4-H Campers, Families and Staff,
* ATTENTION CAMPER'S: PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE FOR YOU USE DURING THE CAMP WEEK. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PUT
YOUR NAME ON YOUR WATER BOTTLE SO IT CAN BE RETURNED TO YOU IF LOST DURING THE WEEK.
As we make our final preparations for 4-H Summer Camp, we would like to thank each of you for all of your efforts and the role you play in making camp a wonderful experience for campers, families and staff. We especially appreciate the many hours all of you - along with the Camp Director and staff - have put into this years' camp; we are so appreciative and thankful for your work.
A couple of important issues that you need to be aware of and to help make the check-in process as smooth as possible:
Camp check-in STARTS on "JULY 1 , 2022". No campers will be checked-in before 4:30 p.m. Please do not arrive to camp before 4:00 PM. It is a good idea to bring an extra copy of the medical release form, camp registration forms, etc. in case your child's forms have been lost or misplaced.
If you are bringing medication (prescription and/or over-the-counter), please be sure it is in the original bottle. If you use a medicine dispenser or organizer be sure to at least bring the original medicine bottle the medicine came in. The nurse needs to know exactly what the medicine is and the prescribed dosage. This is very important, so look for those original bottles. Part of the check-in process will include meeting and being evaluated by the Camp Nurse. If your son or daughter has a particular medical issue that you would like to discuss with the Camp Nurse in advance of camp, please contact please call Keith Nathaniel at (626) 586-1970.
Please do not bring any cash to camp. We are a cashless camp so no cash will be exchanged or is necessary. All items in the camp store are complimentary.
Please do not bring any high value items like iPods, cellphones, expensive camera's and other MP3 players to camp. The University of California 4-H Youth Development Program is not responsible for lost or stolen items. While we'll make every attempt to recovery lost or stolen items, we are not responsible if they are not found. There is no Wi-Fi, internet access or cell phone coverage at Camp Mile High Pines. In case of emergency, you may call the Camp Nurse office at __________________. The Camp Nurse for 2022 is ______________ and if you have questions for the Nurse regarding your son or daughter, you may contact her directly at email or calling ___________________.
There are 15-20 beds per cabin and the cabin assignments are primarily made by grouping campers by age. However, many other factors determine cabin assignments (i.e., age, gender, staff assignments, chaperones, adult to youth ratios).
We will have many hours of organized activities for camp. We will have swimming, games, a talent show, hiking and so much more. We will also feature four hours of science enrichment. Each activity will ask campers to use science processes and skills to solve a problem. At the conclusion of the activities, campers will be asked to discuss what they have learned, and how what they learned can be applied somewhere else.
When your camper comes home, we encourage each family to ask their camper about what they learned. In addition, campers will be surveyed in two areas: teamwork and interest in exploration (what they learned during the week). This feedback will be used to continue to improve the camping experience for the campers. Also, we will send out a survey within a week to get family impressions of camp.
In case of an emergency evacuation from Camp Mile High Pines, we will convene at the TBD. The school address is: TBD.
--Check in BEGINS on Friday, July 1 @ 4:30 p.m. and not before. Do not arrive before 4:00 p.m.
--Check out is Tuesday July 5 @ 9:30 a.m.
All campers need to be picked-up by 10:30 a.m. We are charged a fee by the Camp Mile high Pines; if we are NOT off of he camp property by 11:00 a.m. The Head Adult Director may stay outside of the Camp in front of the Camp Mile High Pines sign with your child until 11:30 a.m. If your child is not picked up by then, your child will be taken to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Station located at TBA.
Families, if your camper is sent home for behavioral or disciplinary issues, please come up to the site to pick-up your camper immediately. Do not disregard this and leave your camper for the remainder of the week. This situation will create an unnecessary challenge for us and become a distraction, so please pick-up your camper if the Head Director calls you and asks you to do so. Each of you read and acknowledged the 4-H Code of Conduct and agreed to it (which clearly states that disciplinary action could result in your camper being sent home). Failure to comply could result in suspension from 4-H and/or not being allowed to attend future 4-H events and Summer Camps.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our office. Be sure to check the 4-H Summer Camp website at www.4hsummercamp.com for additional information and updates.
